Revitalizing Our Community
A DREAM BECOMING A REALITY
In 2019, the Mount Vernon Park Neighborhood Association held a planning meeting with the Fort Wayne Parks Department in effort to improve the quality of life for our neighbors. Five years later we are witnessing the fruits of this collaboration and the beginning of a new era for the neighborhood. A ribbon cutting celebration for the 5.1 acres of future recreation for our residents was held in September 2024. Construction is expected to be completed by summer 2025.
Guiding Principles
With the assistance of the Fort Wayne Parks Department, we captured the dreams of the Mount Vernon Park residents regarding a neighborhood park: make it beautiful, make it a safe space, and make it welcoming to everyone.
Promoting Health and Community
Brewer Park will serve residents of all ages, but especially our youth who make up a third of the residents in Mount Vernon Park. We believe Brewer Park will play a vital role in the well-being of our neighbors by encouraging active lifestyles and bringing residents together.
Renovations in Action
Brewer Park amenities include a splash pad, pavilion, 1/4 mile walking track, two basketball courts, multi-age play spaces, and significant landscaping improvements with shade trees, ornamental trees, and a new art garden.
